A la découverte du paquebot Norwegian Spirit

C'est l'un des nouveaux paquebots faisant escale cet été à Toulon que nous vous faisons découvrir aujourd'hui. Il s'agit du Norwegian Spirit, de la compagnie américaine NCL. Construit par les chantiers allemands Meyer Werft et livré en 1998, ce navire a d'abord été exploité sous le nom de SuperStar Leo par Star Cruises, actionnaire de NCL, qui lui a donné un sistership, le SuperStar Virgo (1999). Si ce dernier est toujours dans la flotte de Star Cruises, son aîné a été versé en 2004 à NCL et rebaptisé Norwegian Spirit. Long de 268 mètres pour une largeur de 32.2 mètres, ce paquebot de 77.000 tonneaux compte 983 cabines, soit une capacité en base double de 1966 passagers, servis par 975 membres d'équipage. Rénové à plusieurs reprises depuis sa mise en service, le navire présente de beaux espaces intérieurs et un pont piscine original, avec une décoration inspirée de l'époque antique. Ainsi, en plus de la salle à manger principale et du buffet, plusieurs autres restaurants (à supplément) sont disponibles, dont un steak-house, un teppanyaki ou encore un sushi bar. Disposant de nombreux bars, d'un grand théâtre avec spectacle chaque soir, d'un casino, de boutiques détaxées, d'un centre de remise en forme et d'espaces pour les enfants, ce navire jouit d'une très bonne réputation au sein de la clientèle de NCL.
